Laois Offaly Gardaí arrested two men after guns and ammunition were discovered during a search operation.
“Gardaí in Tullamore carried out a search operation of a vehicle on the evening of Thursday 5th February, 2026 at approximately 7.30pm,” Gardaí said in a statement.
They said “during the course of the search, Gardaí arrested two males aged in their 30s and late 20s and seized firearms and ammunition.”

“Both males were detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939 and have since been released without charge. A file will now be prepared for the Direction of Public Prosecutions,” Gardaí said.
Gardaí said their investigations are ongoing in relation to the incident.
