The Electric Picnic
A roofer who admitted having drugs at Electric Picnic will have to prove he is addressing his issues.
Adam Costello,25, of 11 Cruagh Rise, Stepaside, Dublin 18 admitted having cannabis and cocaine at the Electric Picnic on September 1 last.
Sgt JJ Kirby said the defendant was alleged to have had cannabis valued at €60 and cocaine valued at €350 when he was searched at the festival. He said the man, who has no previous convictions, was cooperative and very apologetic.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said his client works as a roofer. He said the man was with a group who were sharing the drugs but he was carrying them.
He had attended St John of Gods for addiction issues in the past and had relapsed about a month before the festival, he explained.
“I understand he is back on the straight and narrow now,” said Mr Fitzgerald.
“He is clean and sober now but he probably does need some anchor,” he added. The man brought €500 which was paid to the court poor box.
“I would like to see some evidence that he is addressing his issues before I strike out,” Judge Andrew Cody told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court. He adjourned the matter until February 9 for documentary evidence.
