Laois crime: Person up in court today over burglary at Mountmellick church

A person is to appear in Portlaoise court today, over the recent break-in at the catholic church in Mountmellick.

The break-in took place in the early hours of Friday November 10, when an intruder broke in through a side door, smashed into the parish office and ransacked it, and also attempted to get money from a collection box at a shrine.

CCTV of the crime was given to Gardaí.

This morning Tuesday, November 21, a person will appear before Portlaoise District Court, charged with burglary.

A fatal stabbing is under investigation by Laois Offaly Garda Division.
