BREAKING: St Canice's Credit Union in Kilkenny broken into overnight

A male has been arrested following a break in at St Canice's Credit Union which incorporates a number of branches in Laois. 

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, January 31, a member of the public alerted gardaí after he observed a smashed window at Ladbrokes on Kieran Street.

Minutes later gardaí observed a suspect at the top of the Butterslip. The remnants of a Guide Dog charity receptacle were found nearby. 

St Canice's has affiliate branches in Durrow, Rathdowney and Mountrath.

Gardaí are investigating both incidents and anyone with information can contact (056) 777 5000.

The suspect remains in custody at Kilkenny Garda Station.
