Woman accused of not having control of pit bull
A Laois woman has appeared before Portlaoise District Court for an offence under the Control of Dogs Act 1986.
Roxanne Cawley (33) of 1 Derrycloney, Mountmellick was accused of not having control of a pit bull at her address on March 14, 2025.
Ms Cawley was further accused of not having a sufficiently strong lead for the dog on March 29, 2025.

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick said there was a “very positive” restorative justice report compiled and the accused was to pay €200. She said the woman had €100 in court.
Ms Cawley requested a further two weeks of time for the chance to gather the remaining €100 to be paid.
Judge Susan Fay adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 8.
Ms Fitzpatrick asked if her client could be excused if the money was in court. However, Judge Fay said she must attend.
