Deaths in Laois - December 4, 2018

William Kirwan - Borris-in-Ossory

The death took place on Tuesday, December 4 of William (Bill) Kirwan of Main Street, Borris-in-Ossory. 

Peacefully in the care of the nurses and staff of Villa Marie Nursing Home, Roscrea. William (Bill, Gaffer) in his 93rd year, predeceased by his wife Peg.

Sadly mourned by his family, Michael, Lawrence, Mark, Martin, Carmel, Maria and William (Jnr), daughters-in-law, Julie, Mary, Angela and Caroline, sons-in-law Willie and Des and his beloved 22 grandchildren and his great-grandson Darragh, his brother John (Donaghmore), his sisters Kathleen (Ryan), Carmel (Power), Norrie (McCaul), nephews, nieces, relatives and a wide circle of friends. Also remembering at this time his daughter-in-law Margaret (R.I.P), his brother V. Rev. Canon Mark (R.I.P) and his sisters Sr. Vera (R.I.P) and Sr. Nell (R.I.P).

Reposing at his son William's residence (Killadooley, Ballybrophy) on Wednesday evening from 4pm with rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday in St. Canice's Church, Borris-in-Ossory at 11am followed by burial in Derrinsallagh Cemetery, Borris-in-Ossory.

Thomas Whelan - Donaghmore 

The death took place on Monday, December 3 of Thomas (Tom) Whelan of Raheny, Dublin and formerly of Donaghmore, Rathdowney.

In his 95th year, (late of Singer Sewing Centre, Talbot St.). Beloved husband of the late Annie. Sadly missed by his loving children Michael, Catherine, John, Olivia and Mark, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, his adored 11 grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5pm until 7pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11.30am in Church of Our Lady Mother of Divine Grace, Raheny Village. Funeral thereafter to Fingal Cemetery.
