Laois IFA is holding a "Learn how to discover Nature on your farm" evening with Dr Fiona Mac Gowan Botanist/ Ecologist on a Ballacolla farm on Thursday evening, May 11.
The evening which includes refreshments is to teach farming families how to identify the biodiversity and habitats on their own farms.
John Fitzpatrick is chair of Laois IFA.
“It's to give people of all ages a hand at seeing and identifying what is on their land.
“It will show what small steps can be done to enhance our farms, such as turning a wet spot into a pond. It's also letting the public know we are serious about solutions to the biodiversity crisis. Farmers are more than willing to do what is needed, with a bit of encouragement support.
"I'm looking forward to seeing all our members at this family friendly event," he said.
The evening will take place at 7pm on the farm of Robin Talbot, Ballacolla.
