Laois Outdoor Education is inviting local people to an inaugural workshop on the landmark Togher Bog near Portlaoise.
The workshop on the former Bord na Móna run bog will be facilitated by the Community Wetlands Forum.
“This is the first time members of the local community will be meeting to discuss what their input can be for our local bogs.
“Especially welcome are locals that neighbour the bog, ex-Bord na Mona workers and other interested parties,” say the organisers.
The event takes place on Tuesday, May 14 at 7 pm in An Treo Nua, Harpur's Lane, Knockmay.
Anyone with queries can contact Edel Heeran at info@outdoorlearning.ie or by 087 7741846
Bord na Móna no longer harvests peat on the bog and there are plans among locals to develop a greenway through the lands that would link Portlaoise and Abbeyleix.
