A developer is holding a public information day in relation to a wind farm which is planned for Kilkenny close to the border with Laois.
Rowanmore Ltd is hosting the public information day in the Ballyouskill Community Hall in Co Kilkenny on Thursday, July 25 between 3pm and 8pm.
The Ballylacken Wind Farm would consist of 12 Wind Turbines of 170m overall tip height in the townlands of Byrnesgrove; Commons; Ballymartin; Ballynalacken; Ballyouskill and Loughill, County Kilkenny.
According to the project’s website, “the turbines are proposed for a location on the Castlecomer Plateau between Castlecomer (4km) and Ballyragget (5km) and 3.5km south of Ballinakill. The villages of Ballyouskill and Attanagh are located 3km and 4 km respectively to the west of the turbines.
The proposed windfarm lands are a mixture of agricultural farmland and forestry. The lands are owned by local landowners and also include sections of Coillte property. Please contact lsinfo@coillte.ie if you have any Coillte related queries about the proposal.
It is proposed to connect Ballynalacken Windfarm by underground cabling, to the electrical grid at the Eirgrid Substation at Moatpark on the Ballinakill Road outside Ballyragget, which is a distance of 6km from the windfarm site.
The promoter of the windfarm is Rowanmere Limited a joint venture company between Ecopower and ART Generation, both 100% Irish owned and Kilkenny-based windfarm development companies. Ecopower and ART Generation are well established developers experienced in the development, construction and operation of windfarm projects throughout Ireland which include Rahora Windfarm near Listerlin and Foyle Wind Farm near Tullaroan County Kilkenny.”
Representatives of Rowanmere Ltd and representatives from Coillte will be present at Ballyouskill Community Hall to discuss the proposals with members of the public.
