Laois council maisonettes in Mountmellick are still not on the to-do list to get cosy energy refits.
Cllr Paddy Bracken has again complained to Laois County Council for leaving out the small bungalows from their programme of replacing doors, windows, heating systems and adding insulation.
"I welcome the amount of money coming in to the county for housing. You are achieving great targets and I'm glad to see work happening.
"However on the retrofit programme, I've raised it before. The whole area of maisonettes for the elderly. I'm disappointed to see so many in Mountmellick with bad windows, and no heating systems. There is nothing listed for 2025. I've a serious issue with that. It's wrong to think that elderly people, with the cost of heating gone so high, that haven't mobility, to think they have bad doors and windows and others can get these grants," Cllr Bracken said.
He spoke at the recent Laois County Council meeting, where an update was given on the Midlands Retrofit Programme and Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme, since they began in 2022.
