Laois Local Election Q & A: 'Represented the people of this area for the last 20 years'

Paddy Bracken, Fianna Fáil shares his priorities ahead of polling day on June 7

Laois Local Election Q & A: 'Fresh thinking and new ideas needed'

Paddy Bracken, Fianna Fáil

What are your priorities?

My properties are to get a Relief Road for Mountmellick to alleviate the current traffic congestion in the town; the regeneration of the town from a business perspective; more social and affordable housing to meet ever growing demand and more funding for regeneration of villages and roads throughout the electoral area.
The extension of the sewerage system to urban areas of the town of Mountmellick that are not currently serviced is needed and ensuring that the Mountmellick Flood Relief Scheme is completed as quickly as possible.

What is the biggest issue facing your area?

The need for a relief road for Mountmellick as the lack of same and the resulting congestion is totally disrupting the business life of the town and is a barrier to all aspects of the future development of the town.

Why do you think you would make a good County Councillor?

I have been privileged to represent the people of this area for the last 20 years and have enjoyed the confidence of the electorate in the last four County Council elections. I have always worked to the best of my ability to represent the people of this electoral area.

Paddy Bracken is a candidate in the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District. In the lead up to polling day on June 7 we will be featuring profiles on all 47 candidates vying for a seat on Laois County Council.
