Preparations are underway for Electric Picnic 2023 as organisers seek permission to host this year’s festival.

EP Republic has applied for a licence for the multi stage concert event at Stradbally Hall Estate in Stradbally in late August. 

The detailed application sets out the event management plan which includes all elements of the preparation for the event including the number of toilets. 

An anticipated 70,000 festival goers are expected to attend daily on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Acts already announced at the event include Lewis Capaldi, Billie Eilish and midland man, Niall Horan. 

“The proposed Multi Stage Concert event to be held on 1st September,  2nd September and 3rd September 2023 at Stradbally Hall Estate, Stradbally, Co. Laois, with low key entertainment on 31st  August 2023,” the application states on Laois County Council's website. 

“General camping facilities from the 1st September to the 4th September 2023, and family campervan, general campervan and early entry camping facilities for a maximum of 20,000 from the 31st August to the 4th September 2023,” the application notes. 

Anyone who wants  to lodge a submission/observation to the licence application, can do so in writing to the Planning Department Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise, Co Laois or by email to planning@laoiscoco.ie by the close of business on February 15, 2023.

Meanwhile, the Electric Picnic Residents Committee’s Annual General Meeting is taking place in St Coleman’s NS in Stradbally on February 21 at 8pm. 

Anyone who wishes to include anything on the agenda is asked to contact Kim McCormack of 4 Cill Beg Manor by February 14.
