Hollywood actor Robert Sheehan is back on his own Laois turf this week, and enjoying Electric Picnic.
Portlaoise native Sheehan was interviewed by comedian and actor Dylan Moran in Mindfield, to discuss meditation and his new book Playing Dead.
He spoke to the Leinster Express / Laois Live about his Electric Picnic experiences.
"It's lovely to be back. I've never been to this version of it. It was here when I was 17, and that was 19 years ago. It was more like three stages in a field. Now it's like a city.
His highlight back then was Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
This year it's Belfast hip-hop trio Kneecap.
"I'll go and see Kneecap, they'll probably be top of my bill," Robert Sheehan said.
In an engaging hour long chat in the Manifesto tent stuffed with fans, Sheehan described how he began meditating seven years ago by looking up YouTube videos and later began journalling his experiences writing into the notes app on his phone, which turned into his new book available shortly.
"It has given me a profound sense of peace, access to my creativity, and patience," he said.
"I was turning on the charm offensive for people I didn't know, presenting a version of myself. I was out of order, incoherent," said the actor who began his career on the stage in the Dunamase Theatre, later going on to productions like Love/Hate, Fortitude, and lately The Umbrella Academy on Netflix.
