A Laois choir has been announced as a main stage act at this year's Electric Picnic.

The Timahoe Male Choir are known near and far for their fun and unique performances. With members in their 20's all the way up to their 80's, the choir has become a much loved musical act in Laois.

The choir have seen a massive boost at this year's festival, having performed on the Hazelwood stage in 2024.

Managing Director of Electric Picnic, Mr Melvin Benn, has previously praised the choir for their performance last year.

"I've just left the Timahoe Male Choir in full voice a few minutes ago," he told the Leinster Express / Laois Live and national media at his Sunday press conference last year.

"It's the first time ever that we had to have 'one in, one out' at the Hazelwood stage, it was mobbed. For the local community it's fantastic.

"But for the men on stage, you know this is transformational in their lives I think. They're getting together, they're singing, some of them will be farmers on their tractors out on their own most of the day. It gives them a real sense of community I think. You can feel that in the energy that they were giving out. It was unbelievable actually," he said.

"The queue outside Hazelwood was phenomenal, so what we'll do with them next year... I wasn't entirely certain about the Hawaiian-style plastic flowers around them but apart from that I thought they were fantastic," Mr Benn said at his press conference at the festival.
The Timahoe Male Choir will take to Electric Picnic's Main Stage on Sunday August 31 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
Over 80,000 picnickers are expected to descend upon Stradbally this August.
