A Laois family is holding their fourth annual Road To Recovery fundraiser, in aid of Friends of Portlaoise Hospital, a non-profit organisation, which aims to provide the hospital with much needed supplies.

Taking to their Facebook page, Friends of Portlaoise Hospital expressed their delight at being this year's road run beneficiaries, while thanking Toney, and his family for supporting them.

They organisation said, "This is a fantastic event, and we encourage everyone to mark the date in their calendars and come out and support the cause. Your presence on the day will mean to much to us."

Father and daughter Toney and Niamh Ryan, from Pike of Rushall near Castletown, are holding their vehicle road run across Laois, an event, which sees vans, jeeps, 4X4 cars, vintage cars, and trucks take part.

This run is close to the family's heart as Toney was diagnosed with skin cancer, and successfully overcame it, thanks to the treatment he received at St James's Hospital in Dublin.

The father and daughter wanted to give back in some way, and so, the 'Road to Recovery' fundraiser was born in 2021, raising thousands since for charities and organisations.

Registration opens at 12.30, at €20 per vehicle and the run starts at 2pm. Refreshments will be served before and after the run with a big raffle taking place after the run.
