Pictured: Laois concert fundraiser to take place following devastating fire in Roscrea
Following the devastating fire that burned down Bernie's Supervalu in Roscrea on November 11, a Laois village has organised a concert fundraiser for the village.
Donaghmore Workhouse will host a 'Super-Support' concert in aid of the business, hoping to raise funds towards the supermarket's restoration. This fundraiser has been organised by Rathdowney actor and playwright, Micheal Creagh.
"I think we all got a shock when we saw the devastating fire at SuperValu in Roscrea," Mr Creagh told the Leinster Express / Laois Live.

"Of course we're all relieved that there were no injuries or worse. But now a lot of good people have to pick up the pieces of their lives and livelihoods. The people of Roscrea have given us musicians here in Rathdowney many years of love and support by coming out to hear us sing and play," he said.
"A bunch of us over here across the border in lovely Laois have just today put our 'auld heads together and agreed that we want to give back some of that love and support," Mr Creagh explained.
"On Saturday November 29, we're going to gather our auld bones in Donaghmore Workhouse Dining Hall to put on a fundraising concert for you."
The concert will take place at 8pm, following on from the turning on of Rathdowney's Christmas Lights at the brewery bridge in the bordering town.
"We will tear it out of it until about 10.30pm," Mr Creagh joked.
"There will be no specific admission charge but people can donate one euro, or whatever they can afford at this critical time of year. We will give you a night to remember with all our local legends, while gathering a few bob to help all the lovely folk affected by this awful fire," he said.
Mr Creagh highlighted that 100% of funds raised will go directly towards the Tipperary business.
"All of the musicians are giving their services for free, and Trevor Stanley is kindly throwing the doors open with a heart and a half for a nighy of 'Super-Support'. Please spread the word, and don't miss out on a night for SuperValu!" Mr Creagh finished.
Join Laois locals for a night of music for a fantastic cause at Donaghmore Workhouse, November 29 from 8pm onwards.
