Calling all knitting enthusiasts in Laois!
A team of Irish knitters are calling in the help of all with knitting skills to help break the world record for the largest knitted blanket!
A group of knitters from Clare and Inismore came up with the idea which will bring knitting groups from all across Ireland together.
The group recently appeared on the RTE Today Show and put the call out for all knitters to reach out to them and knit their patch on the largest blanket attempt.
If you can knit a 6 inch square of any stitch then they want to hear from you!
The target is to reach 60,000 squares and the group is two thirds of the way to their target. When the blanket is complete all of the sections will be donated to The Red Cross.
The picture below shows just 4,000 squares.
Will you get your local knitting group involved in this world record attempt?
Squares: 34/36 sts if using dk yarn; 28sts if using aran weight yarn Plain garter stitch is great (actually best, as it has more body) Mailing details: The Blanket Project c/o Valery Larkin Apt #9 Barrack Close Barrack Street Ennis Co. Clare V95 XK4K
Ireland.
The group has received squares from all over Ireland and even from some locations abroad. Will a couple of Laois squares make it on?
