The Laois Minor football team have gotten their Leinster campaign off to the best possible start with a victory over Longford in Laois Hire O'Moore Park this evening.
Laois showed their class in the second-half as Conor Gorman got his Laois managerial tenure got off to the perfect start.

Longford began the game with a placed ball as Cormac Flynn split the posts for the game's first score. Laois' first white flag came courtesy of Robbie Murphy as the game took its time to ignite.
Laois got their second point in the 10th minute as Eoin Johnston pointed a free, this would be the last score for 13 minutes as Longford were kicking wides at every opportunity with them registering six wides over a short period.
The home side hit the front in the last seven minutes of the half as Johnston pointed another free before Evan English opened his tally from play. Ennae Byrne pointed two successive scores with the Arles-Killeen man getting one from play and one from a free. Johnston got his third score of the half with his first point from play as Laois led 0-7 to 0-1 at half-time.
The second-half's first score came seven minutes into the half as Evan English scored a beautiful left-footed effort from the corner of the Town end of O'Moore Park. The game came to the life in the 47th minute as David Donohue got in for goal for Laois before Longford replied with the same as Patrick Mollahan buried the ball beyond Liam Conroy in the Laois net. It was nearly a second goal for Longford from the resulting kick-out as Cormac Flynn's effort was tipped over the bar.
Laois' second goal came soon after as substitute Jamilio Salvador bore down on goals before drilling the ball into the bottom left corner. Another Laois substitute Tom O'Connell pointed a super point as Laois knew the result was gone beyond doubt. Full-forward Ennae Byrne pointed his third of the contest for Laois in the 59th minute. Byrne pointed another free before English pointed for his third from play with his score being the last. The final score,Laois 2-12, Longford 1-2
Laois play Offaly next Wednesday evening before a two-break in between the final group game against Kildare, one in which Laois will have home advantage.
