Former Portlaoise GAA footballer takes Éire Óg to first Canadian Senior title

Portlaoise's John Kavanagh was to the fore at the weekend as his six points saw his Éire Óg side over the line against St Finnian's in the Senior Canadian final. 

Kavanagh has a Laois Senior medal under his belt as he was part of the Portlaoise side who defeated Ballylinan in the 2017 Laois Senior Championship final, a year after their shock loss to Stradbally in the decider.

He has been living in Vancouver with his girlfriend Caoimhe Dwan, who recently won a Camogie title, for over a year.
