Laois GAA shot-stopper nominated for GAA.ie Player of the Week

Laois goalkeeper Killian Roche has been rewarded for a superb display against Longford with a place in the GAA.ie Football Team of the Week as well as being one of three players nominated for Player of the Week.

Roche was exceptional between the sticks as well as in his new role as a roaming keeper. He opened the scoring on Saturday night with a beautiful curling effort from under the stand where he finished with five points, three from play.

Saturday night was actually Roche's league debut for the O'Moore County having only played in the O'Byrne Cup and Tailteann Cup in 2023. The Killeshin player made a crucial save at the end of the first-half as Jayson Matthews went through on goal with Laois ahead by three points. That save spurred Laois on as they fired over the last two scores of the half to go in five ahead at the break.

Voting for Roche to be named Player of the Week can be found on the GAA's Instagram Stories.
