Laois Hire O'Moore Park is set to play host to Laois and Carlow for the second time in a week although this time it'll be in the small ball. The Laois footballers recorded a victory over their neighbours last week with Willie Maher hoping he can replicate the same result.

Carlow will come into the game with Laois full on confidence having won last year's Joe McDonagh Cup as well as holding a 100% record in the league so far. Carlow have gotten the better of Kerry and Meath in their opening two games scoring the same tally in both games, 3-22.

Laois have also won their opening two fixtures against Down in the opener in Portlaoise before leaving Hawkfield with two points to their name against Kildare. The Down game saw them need a flurry of late scores to eventually win by seven before a three-goal haul in the second-half gave them an eight-point victory over the Lilywhites.

When the sides last clashed it was a dramatic affair in the Joe McDonagh Cup as a late Marty Kavanagh penalty saw Carlow snatch a point. That game proved costly for Laois as they ended up missing out on the top-two by a single point. Carlow would then go on to defeat Offaly in the last group game before climbing the steps of the Hogan Stand to lift the Joe McDonagh after extra-time against The Faithful County.

This clash could determine who finishes first and second in the table but don't be surprised to see both teams back in the Division 2A final on the weekend of March 30/31.

Laois v Carlow throws-in at 6pm on Saturday, February 24 in Laois Hire O'Moore Park. Tickets for the game can be bought here  or in the following stores; SuperValu Stradbally, Breslin's SuperValu Rathdowney, McConville's SuperValu Mountmellick, McLoughlin's SuperValu Portarlington, Mulhall’s SuperValu Portlaoise, SuperValu Abbeyleix and SuperValu Parkside Portlaoise.
