Exciting Saturday ahead as Laois GAA SFC 'B' semi-finals and Laois LGFA County Finals set to take place

Saturday will be a busy one in GAA and LGFA circles

A busy day of football action awaits in Laois on Saturday, September 27, with two LGFA finals and a double-header of Senior ‘B’ semi-finals in the GAA set to provide plenty of drama.

Laois LGFA Junior Final – Killeshin v Portlaoise (Annanough, 3.30pm)
Killeshin return to the Junior County Final, facing Portlaoise’s second team. Last year, Killeshin endured heartbreak at the same venue when St Paul’s edged them out with a late point from Anna Keegan. Before that, the club hadn’t reached a County Final since their 2014 Junior Championship success. They also have Division 3 honours to chase once the championship concludes.

Portlaoise brings a mix of youth and experience, including players from recent Senior title-winning squads and the county’s Leinster Minor champions. The winners will represent Laois in the AIB Leinster LGFA Club Championship, travelling to face the Offaly champions on Saturday, October 11.

Laois LGFA Intermediate Final – Graiguecullen v St Brigid’s (Annanough, 6pm)
Graiguecullen are looking to claim their first Intermediate County title, having narrowly lost to St Joseph’s in last year’s decider by two points. They booked their final spot with a semi-final win over St Paul’s.

St Brigid’s are looking to bounce straight back to the Senior grade after relegation last year. Many of their squad will be appearing in their first-ever County Final, having spent several years at the Senior level. They secured their place with a tight one-point semi-final victory over Ballyfin.

Senior ‘B’ Semi-Final – Emo v The Heath (LOETB Centre of Excellence, 4.30pm)
The Heath, crowned Senior ‘B’ champions in 2024, defeated Ballyfin in the quarter-finals to reach this clash with Emo. The Heath’s championship campaign this year saw them lose to Portarlington in Round 1, defeat Clonaslee St Manman’s in Round 2, and fall to Killeshin in Round 3, which moved them into the Senior ‘B’ competition.

Emo dropped into the Senior ‘B’ after a Round 3 defeat to St Joseph’s, having beaten Stradbally in Round 2. They overcame Clonaslee St Manman’s in the quarter-finals to set up Saturday’s contest.

Senior ‘B’ Semi-Final – Rosenallis v Stradbally (LOETB Centre of Excellence, 6pm)
Rosenallis lost out narrowly to Arles-Killeen in Round 1 before they got past Ballyfin in Round 2. They fell to county champions Portarlington in Round 3 before defeating Crettyard in the Senior 'B' quarter-finals.

Stradbally’s path saw them lose to Graiguecullen and Emo in the early rounds, with a notable Senior 'B' quarter-final win over O’Dempsey’s securing their semi-final spot.
