Former Laois Ladies footballer Erone Fitzpatrick has been named as one of the eight Irish players in the 2025 AFLW All-Australian Squad.
The Park-Ratheniska club player has been a standout performer for Carlton this year, overcoming an ACL injury that ruled her out for the entire 2024 campaign.
Known for her blistering pace and tireless work rate, Fitzpatrick has featured in every game this season, averaging 17 disposals per match. She also leads the club for score involvements and ranks second overall for metres gained, behind only teammate Dayna Finn, who was also chosen in the squad.
Affectionately known to teammates as “Ronnie,” Fitzpatrick’s most eye-catching display came in Round 3 against last year’s Grand Finalists Brisbane, where she kicked two goals, gathered 18 disposals, and made eight tackles in a performance that underlined her growing influence in the competition.
Her selection among the league’s elite marks another significant milestone for the All-Ireland-winning Laois forward, who scored three points in the 2022 All-Ireland Intermediate final win against Wexford before she made the switch to Australian Rules football in 2023.
This year’s All-Australian squad has a strong Irish presence, with a record eight Irish players included among the 44 selected. Fitzpatrick joins Dayna Finn, Aishling Moloney, Jennifer Dunne, Niamh Kelly, Niamh McLaughlin, Áine McDonagh and Blaithin Bogue in what represents a remarkable endorsement of the impact of Irish players in the AFLW.
The final team of 21 will be announced at the W Awards on Monday, November 24.
