Laois GAA hurling teams begin Leinster journey as Camross chase Leinster Camogie final place

Ballyfin and Clonad will be looking to go on a run in the Leinster Club Championships

Laois GAA hurling teams begin Leinster journey as Camross chase Leinster Camogie final place

Clonad, Ballyfin and Camross are in Leinster Club action on Saturday

This weekend will see the Laois hurling county champions from the Senior, Intermediate, and Junior grades enter this year's AIB Leinster Club Hurling Championships.

Ballyfin v Lusmagh in St Brendan's Park Birr at 1.30pm on Saturday, November 8

On Saturday, Premier Intermediate champions Ballyfin will make the relatively short trip to St Brendan's Park in Birr to take on the Offaly champions Lusmagh in the quarter-finals of the Leinster Club Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Ballyfin finally got their hands on the PIHC trophy three weeks ago after they defeated Rathdowney-Errill in the final that was meant to have taken place two weeks earlier. Three first-half goals, against the breeze, put them well on their way to victory as they secured their place in the Laois SHC for 2026.

They'll come up against a Lusmagh side that defeated Carrig-Riverstown in the Senior 'B' final in Birr five weeks ago.

Clonad v Kevins Hurling Club in O'Toole Park at 1.30pm on Saturday, November 8

In the AIB Leinster Club Junior Hurling Championship, Clonad will travel up the M7 to take on Dublin side Kevins Hurling Club in O'Toole Park.

Clonad got the better of Mountrath in the Intermediate Hurling final on the first weekend of October. They ended a 33-year wait for a championship title, that being their 1992 SHC victory.

Camross v Naas in Camross GAA at 2pm on Saturday, November 8

There's also a Leinster Camogie game taking place in Camross GAA as the Laois Intermediate county champions welcome Naas to Derrynaseera.

Camross came through a good battle away to Westmeath champions Clonkill last weekend, with Sarah Anne Fitzgerald leading the way for Arien Delaney's side. Naas might be a bit fatigued for the Camross game as they needed a 45'-taking competition to get the better of Wicklow's Knockananna last weekend after the sides were locked level after 30 minutes of extra-time.

The reward for the winner is a Leinster Final next weekend against either Na Fianna from Meath or Carlow's Mount Leinster Rangers.
