The Laois senior hurlers are set to get their Allianz National Hurling League Division 2 campaign underway against Mayo in Tooreen on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Tommy Fitzgerald has named a team that shows six changes from Laois' Joe McDonagh Cup final defeat to Kildare in June. Some of those changes are forced as Borris-Kilcotton's Jer Quinlan and Rathdowney-Errill's Paddy Purcell aren't with Fitzgerald's panel at present. The other four changes see Jordan Walshe, Ben Conroy and Diarmaid Conway replaced with the trio nursing injuries. Camross' Mark Dowling started against Kildare, but he's on the bench for Sunday's game in Tooreen.
The returning Eoin Reilly has been given the number 16 jersey, with Cathal Dunne chosen to start between the posts. Ballinakill's Ian Shanahan makes an immediate return to the starting 15, having not been involved in 2025. Jack Kelly is another player who has returned to the Laois setup after a few years away, and he starts at centre-forward. Clough-Ballacolla's Cillian Dunne is in line to make his league debut, having featured for Laois in the Walsh Cup.
