Stephen Duff’s Laois Ladies are searching for their first win of the 2026 Lidl National Ladies Football League campaign when they travel to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale to face Limerick on Sunday, February 8.
Laois have yet to get off the mark this season, opening with a dramatic draw against Fermanagh before a four-point defeat to Down last weekend.
In both games, Laois have shown their resilience to come from behind. Against Fermanagh, they came from six points down to briefly lead before Emily Lacey’s 60th-minute point salvaged a draw. A week later versus Down, Laois fought back from a six-point half-time deficit to get within a point, only for Down's Eva Hicks to score a goal and a point to see the Ulster side over the line.
Sunday’s opponents, Limerick, are also winless, having been heavily beaten in their opening two matches. Roscommon defeated them 3-6 to 0-8, while Antrim ran out 4-16 to 1-4 winners last weekend. The sides last met in the league in 2025, drawing 2-12 apiece in Ballylinan, a result that dented Laois’ promotion hopes.
A win is essential for Laois to avoid slipping into a relegation battle, something few expected following their appearance in last year’s All-Ireland Intermediate final.
Throw-in is at 2pm on Sunday, February 8, with live coverage available on the Leinster Express / Laois Live blog from 1.50pm.
