The victorious Pfizer (Kildare) side that were crowned Leinster Senior Football champions
Seven Laois GAA players played key roles as Pfizer (Kildare) were crowned Leinster Senior Football Inter-Firm champions following an impressive victory over Dublin Dun Laoghaire ETB on Monday evening, March 9.
Captained by Stradbally’s Tom Shiel, the Kildare-based multi-national pharmaceutical company produced a dominant display at SETU Carlow, running out 4-17 to 0-18 winners to secure the provincial title.
Shiel led from the front with an outstanding performance, finishing the game with 2-2. Fellow Stradbally man Benny Lawlor was the team’s top scorer on the night, contributing 0-10, including six frees, while Eoin Buggie also made a major impact, adding 1-2 to the tally.
The Laois players who played for Pfizer were: Shiel, Buggie, Garry Comerford, Conor Goode and Benny Lawlor (all from Stradbally), Damon Larkin (Portlaoise), and Niall Donoher (Courtwood).

Their Leinster success followed a strong campaign. Pfizer booked their place in the provincial competition after defeating the Laois/Offaly Gardaí side in the Regional final.

They then advanced to the Leinster decider after overcoming Tallaght Garda (Dublin) in the semi-final before producing their best performance of the campaign in the final against Dublin Dun Laoghaire ETB.
Attention now turns to the All-Ireland Inter-Firms Football Championship, with Pfizer set to face the Munster Championship winners in an All-Ireland semi-final. The Munster final has yet to be played, with the date and opponents for the semi-final to be confirmed.
