Final frontier too far for Ballyfin

The 2011 season finished in disappointment for Ballyfin as they were comprehensively defeated by Kilkenny champions St Patrick’s of Ballyragget in the Leinster Club Junior hurling final at O’Moore Park on Sunday, with ten points separating the sides at the finish.

St Patrick’s were just at a different level on a day when Ballyfin failed to reach the standard they had set in winning the Laois title, and then progressing through Leinster to the final. The reputation that the young Kilkenny side came with was certainly well deserved.
