Sisters injured in wrong way M9 motorway crash issue update

Hundreds of people attended a vigil in Graiguecullen in August in support of the family who were injured in the crash
Three sisters who were seriously injured when their car was hit by a BMW going the wrong way on the M9 motorway in Kildare last August have thanked the public for their support.
Sisters Ella Hendricken, Niamh Kinsella and Alma Kinsella, who are in their 20s and 30s, and a seven year-old boy were serious injured in a head-on crash that claimed the lives of five teenage boys who were travelling in the BMW. The sisters had been on their way to the airport for a family wedding when the collision occurred in the early hours of August 16.
The crash led to an outpouring of support for the injured family members and resulted in a fundraising page being established to help the family. The community of Graiguecullen rallied around them and hundreds of people attended a vigil which was held and broadcast online from St Clare’s Church in Graiguecullen in support of the family.
Through the fundraising page which was set up in the wake of the crash, the sisters issued their heartfelt thanks.
“As we look back on everything that has happened over the past few months, it’s difficult to find the words to express just how grateful we are.
“Throughout this journey, we have been reminded of the incredible kindness and compassion that exists in the world. The love and support we have received from so many people has meant more to us than words could ever express.
“To everyone who has donated, sent messages, offered well wishes, kept us in your thoughts and prayers, or reached out to show their support, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The generosity shown by people in our own community, across Ireland and further afield has been truly overwhelming.
“A very special thank you to our family, friends and everyone who has stood by our side throughout this journey. Your kindness, love and encouragement have meant so much to us, and we will never forget
“The incredible generosity you have shown has provided our family with practical support, comfort and reassurance for the future. Knowing that so many people care about us has meant more than words can express.
“From all of us, thank you for your generosity, your prayers, your well wishes and for helping us through one of the most difficult chapters of our lives.
“We will never forget your kindness and support, and we will be forever grateful. With all our love and heartfelt gratitude, Ella, Niamh and Alma,” the post concluded.
The GoFundMe page in support of the family now has €835,000 with some donors giving as much as €10,000. The page can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/gofundme-fundraiser-for-ella-niamh-and-alma
