Laois County Council has announced the signing of a contract with NODE Architecture, for the design and delivery of a new Fire Station in Stradbally. The new development will be located at the N80/R427 Cork/Abbeyleix Road junction.

At the contract signing, Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council, Cllr. Paschal McEvoy, stated that ‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to sign this contract, enabling the design and delivery of a new Fire Station in Stradbally. The existing Stradbally Fire Station was built in the 1950s and can no longer meet the needs of a modern, responsive Fire Service. Stradbally Fire Station is one of the busiest Fire Stations in County Laois, responding to approximately 150 call-outs annually. It is vital to our community that the new Fire Station be delivered in a timely manner and today represents a key milestone for that.’

Chief Executive of Laois County Council, John Mulholland, highlighted that ‘I wish NODE Architecture well in their appointment to design and oversee the construction of the new Stradbally Fire Station. I also acknowledge the funding allocation from the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management and the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government to enable this development to progress.’
