Almost 30 homeless in Laois last month

Nationally the number of homeless people in Ireland has hit 13,531, a new record

Louth homeless figures fell again slightly in November

There were 29 people homeless in Laois last month.

There were almost thirty people recorded as being homeless in Laois last month, according to the Department of Housing's latest report. 
There were 29 individuals availing of emergency accommodation from the local authority during the week of January 22 to January 28. 
This is up from 28 people recorded as homeless in the county the month previous.

Across the midlands there were 33 families in local authority emergency accommodation last month. This included 42 adults and 53 children. 
The majority of adults homeless across the midlands were aged between 25 to 44 (80). There were 59 people aged between 45 and 64 and there were three people aged over 65 homeless in the region. 
Nationally the number of homeless people in Ireland has hit 13,531, a new record.

The latest figures show that 9,504 adults and 4,027 children were in emergency accommodation in January.
