A beautiful mural has been painted on the gable wall of a vacant property in a Laois estate to brighten up the area.

Art students from Mountmellick Further Education and Training Centre along with their art teacher have painted the colourful mural on the vacant house in the Ashgrove estate.

Taking to social media Mountmellick Tidy Towns praised them for the fantastic job.

"A huge thank you to Adella, Petra, (art teacher) & the Art students from Mountmellick Further Education and Training Centre for the beautiful Mural you've painted on the gable wall of the vacant house, at the top of Ashgrove. It goes to show that you really can make a "silk purse out of a sow's ear". I'm sure you'll all agree it looks fab-u-lous."
