There has been an outpouring of grief following the death of Paul Joseph Kenna of Balladine, Abbeyleix on Tuesday, June 11.

Portlaoise Panto posted a tribute on their social media: “We are so very sorry and shocked to hear of the passing of our friend Paul Kenna.  Paul was a true gentleman on and off stage. His joy, friendliness and kindness will never be forgotten and he will be dearly missed.  Thank you for sharing the stage with us and may you rest in peace Paul.”

Portlaoise Musical Society also posted about Paul’s death.

“We are just at a complete loss for words.  When the time is right we will post up a fitting tribute for our dear friend. Less than 24 hours ago you were singing your heart out for our auditions, life is just bizarre.

Rest Easy Brother.”

The Fun House Theatre Company wrote: “Thoughts are with all our friends in Portlaoise Musical Society on the untimely passing of Paul. Such sad news.”

There are also scores of personal tributes being posted online by people expressing shock and sadness at the death.

His death notice stated that Paul died suddenly at home. Deeply regretted by his loving Mum and Dad, (Tom and Vera), sisters Sheila and Fiona, brothers-in-law Kieran (Skip) and Tim, nieces Amy and Katy, nephew Thomas, aunts, uncles, cousins and a wide circle of friends.
