A tourist was allegedly caught doing 176 kph on the motorway in Laois while driving to the airport.

Gardaí posted an image of the car on social media and said the driver was arrested for dangerous driving in relation to the incident. It’s unclear whether they made their flight.

“Laois Roads Policing Unit detected a tourist making their way to Dublin airport this morning at 176kph on the M7 in a rented vehicle. This driver was stopped and arrested for dangerous driving,” gardai said.

“Separately a number of drivers were issued with fixed charge notices for mobile phone offences. Slow down and never drive distracted by a mobile phone,” gardaí added.
