House badly damaged in fire in midland town

A house has been badly damaged by fire in Co Offaly this evening. 

It’s understood the blaze broke out at the property in St Cormac’s Park in Kilcormac at around 6.30pm. 

Units from Offaly Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and the blaze was brought under control. 

It’s understood two adjoining houses suffered smoke damage as a result of the fire which caused significant damage to one house. It’s believed nobody was hurt in the fire.

A Garda spokesperson said they were called to the scene and are at the location providing assistance.

Gardaí are expected to now investigate the cause of the fire.
