BREAKING: Gardaí investigating 'suspicious approach' of a child in Laois

Gardaí are appealing for information following what’s been described as a ‘suspicious approach’ of a young child in Laois. 

It’s understood a man approached a young girl, thought to be 10 years old, near the Main Street in Portarlington at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, December 16. The man, who wasn’t described by Gardaí, spoke to the girl who fled the scene. 

“We have a report of a suspicious approach. We are investigating,” Laois Gardai confirmed. They said the incident occured at " 2.30pm in the vicinity of Main Street, Portarlington". 

Gardaí appealed to anyone with information or anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact Portarlington Garda Station on 057 8623112 or Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100.
