Toilet facilities at Portlaoise Train Station are to be reinstated within the next week.
Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley said he has received confirmation from Iarnród Eireann.
“I have been in ongoing contact with the Management of IE over a number of months to get facilities in place. They have confirmed to me that work is been got underway at Portlaoise and will be completed within a week or a little longer,” he said.
The Laois TD said numerous rail commuters have complained to him about the lack of toilet facilities at the station.
“It is important that a busy station such as Portlaoise has basic facilities for commuters to use while they are waiting for trains,” he said.
