Durrow and Abbeyleix Enterprise Town is kicking off next weekend starting on Friday 14th October at 5pm in Scoil Mhuire, Abbeyleix.
This free event aims to showcase all the great clubs, schools, community groups and businesses in the wider area, and all members of the community are welcome to come along and join in.
Many local organisations have now already signed up to showcase their products and services over the weekend, however, there are still some slots available for any organisations who wish to exhibit.
Durrow and Abbeyleix Enterprise Town is supported by Bank of Ireland but is open to all organisations who would like to take part and is completely free for both exhibitors and attendees. Karen Flanagan, Durrow Branch Manager, encourages everyone to come along over the weekend.
“If you are a local business or organisation please drop into the bank to sign up for this event – it’s free and you will be connecting with your local community”.
Kilkenny hurler, Richie Power, will be one of the guests of honour over the weekend, where he will be meeting and greeting the crowds. In keeping with the sporting theme, a fantastic line up is in place for the Sports Panel Discussion on Saturday, including well-known pundits Marty Morrissey and Michael Duignan. The public are encouraged to come along and take part in the debate.
It will also be a real family event, with a full line up of entertainment and fun including GAA Skills Workshops with Laois Games Development Officer, Andrew Kavanagh and Inflatable Target Practice with Nichole Dunphy, Laois's FAI Development Officer. A “Kiddies Corner” entertainment area will host the ever popular Sweet Cart, face painting, ice cream and much more, all free of charge.
Some amazing local talent will also be featured over the weekend, including musical performances by the wonderful Spink Comhaltas and Dave Furey. Jason Ryan, branch manager in Bank of Ireland, Abbeyleix says, “A full line up of entertainment is currently being finalised and there will be something for all ages. We are also excited to confirm that the Laois County Fire Service will be with us on both Friday and Saturday with engines and personnel, which is always popular with the kids.”
Many local businesses will also be offering prizes and offers on the day and there will be spot prizes for attendees too including rugby tickets, international soccer match tickets and many other prizes over the weekend event.
The organising committee is encouraging everyone to come along to Durrow and Abbeyleix Enterprise Town to enjoy this free event. Both days are open to the public - on Friday 14th October (5pm-8pm) a business networking event will take place and Saturday 15th October (11am – 2pm) will be a community orientated day with lots of family entertainment and kids activities.
