Big crowd turns out to support Simon Community in Laois

A large crowd gathered in the home of Laois GAA in Portlaoise to raise funds for services provided to help homeless of Laois by the Simon Community.

The Simon Community Sleep Out was held in O’Moore Park on Friday, October 21. More than 400 sponsored cards were sent out in and advance and many local people turned out on what as a chilly but thankfully dry night for all.

Former Laois hurling supremo Seamus ( Cheddar) Plunkett said it was a tremendous initiative and deserved support.

“Homelessness continues to be a major problem throughout the country and Simon Community are doing great work to help those in need,” said Cheddar.

The Laois Friends of the Simon Community were overwhelmed by the support and generosity they have received from the people of Laois for the event.
