Two men who are suspects in the murder of Gerard Eglington are in custody in Portlaoise Garda Station.
Two men are in custody in Portlaoise in connection with a murder in Portarlington in 2012.
Gardaí in Portarlington are investigating the murder of Gerard Eglington (27) that occurred in the Kilnacourt Woods Housing Estate on the morning of the September 24, 2012. Today, Monday, November 7, Gardaí arrested two males, aged 21 and 34 years, as part of their investigation into the murder.
The two men were arrested in the Kevin Street area of south inner city Dublin.
Both are being detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1039 as amended.
Eglington, a convicted criminal, lived in the house with his partner and children. He had gangland connections in Dublin. It was reported at the time that he was gunned down in front of his children.
He had been the subject of a number of failed murder attempts.
Eglington had also been involved in a number of violent incidents in Portarlington.
