A decision on the permanent home for Portlaoise's new secondary school is some way off but the site of the old Centerpoint Shopping Centre is on the shortlist.
Laois Offaly ETB confirmed that the site is one of a number of options, but cautioned that nothing has been decided and it may not be suitable.
The priority for the ETB which is co-patron of the new school is the location of a temporary home for the bi-lingual co-educational school which is set to open in 2017.
Last week Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming raised the building of new schools in the Dáil with the Minster for Education Richard Bruton.
Dep Fleming reavealed that Centrepoint, which is owned by the Shaw family, was a possible site.
