Freezing conditions on Laois roads

Motorists are urged to take extra care on the roads tonight in Laois and especially on Friday morning on the way to school and work.

While Laois County Council has been busy salting roads tonight in towns, many rural routes will not have been treated for what is forecast to be a night of sub zero conditions. Most housing estates will not have been gritted.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow warning for midland counties of Leinster and Munster. Temperatures overnight will fall minus 3 or minus 4 degrees in places. Freezing fog is also suspected in some areas.

The warning is valid until Friday 25 November 10am
