2024 was very successful for professional boxer Cian Reddy from Mountmellick. As we welcome the New Year, the 22-year-old is hoping for more action in the ring in 2025 and is also hoping to add banjo lessons to his busy schedule.

“I only had two fights, which I would have liked to get to three in the year, but I'm happy with the two performances,” said the 22-year-old.Unfortunately, the third one didn't go ahead, so I'd like to have a couple more, maybe three, or four fights next year in my first full professional year of boxing. I only turned professional at the end of April and next year I'd like to bring the first-ever professional boxing event to Laois. There have never been any professional boxing events in Laois so doing that would be amazing. That's always been on my bucket list from when I was young.

"I'll continue to learn outside the ring about boxing, about life, and develop in and out of the ring. I'd like to learn the banjo as well. That's also on my bucket list for 2025. I've got a very musical family and I love country music and bluegrass and stuff, so I'd like to learn the banjo and continue to be as good a person as I can and improve in other areas. That's mainly my goals for 2025.”
