Laois kayak and canoe club has plans for Grand Canal

A local sports club is putting in place plans to store its equipment for water sport along the Grand Canal on the Laois Kildare border.

The Stradbally Vicarstown Timahoe (SVT) Canoeing and Kayaking Club is in the process of seeking permission from Laois County Council for two 20ft storage containers for storage of canoes and kayaks.

The club wants to locate the containers on the west bank of the Grand Canal just south of the Vicarstown bridge in Vicarstown.

Born in 2017, the club is as an initiative of the SVT Activity & Wellness Hub. Most of its activities take place on the Grand Canal at Vicarstown.
