Planning approved for new houses in Laois town

Building Boom: Kildare senator says construction grants should rise in line with material costs

Plans for 11 new homes have been approved by Laois County Council.

Cubic Housing Ltd applied for the properties at Shannon Street and Wallis Street in Mountrath. The planning application, a modification of a previously granted application, was approved subject to 32 conditions.

Under the latest plans, an existing building will be partially demolished and four two bed duplex units will be built. A further seven two bedroom bungalows will also be constructed with roads and footpaths to an existing carpark at Wallis Street.

The plans include the rearranging of car parking and forming of a new entrance to the site.

Surface level car parking, public lighting, landscaping, public open space, boundary treatments, provision of foul and surface water disposal and all associated site works are included in the plans.
