Camross is a pleasant village nestling close to Ard Erin-the highest peak in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. It has a village pub but no shop, with Mountrath the main town a ten minute drive away. The village does have many amenities that would not be found in many towns. A beautiful playground, recently refurbished GAA grounds, lit walking track, remote working community hub and a primary school and creche.
The Poets Cottage in the centre of the village is a recreated thatched cottage common in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the 18th and 19th century. It is a great starting point for many mountain walks and the 70km Mountain bike trail in the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
