Laois integration group to run event to help victims of catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Laois people are being invited to support a special fundraiser and collection in Portlaoise to support the Syrian victims of the disastrous earthquake that has hit in Turkey and Syria

The Laois Integration Network is organising the bake sale and collection with all proceeds going to help the thousands of survivors left homeless in the wake of the catastrophe.

The Network pledges to donate any proceeds from the cake sale to the White Helmets Syria who are on the ground in Syria.

Secondly, if anyone wants to donate essential clothes such as new/good quality gloves, hats, socks etc…, as well as non-perishable items, they will also be accepted.

The Turkish Barber in 1 Railway Street, Portlaoise is also accepting items that will go directly to Turkish embassy to go to Turkey. Ask for Ozzy in the shop.

"Finally, we should keep everyone in our thoughts & prayers. Just desperate," says the Network.

The bake sale and collection takes place in the Portlaoise Parish Centre this Saturday, February 11 from 10 am-2 pm.

The Laios Integration Network been at the heart of giving new homes in Laois to Syrian refugees who fled to Ireland in the wake of the recent and ongoing conflict in the country.
