Appeal made to fix wheelchair ramp at Laois cemetery

A tourist in a wheelchair was targeted by thugs in Limerick city centre

Laois County Council should repair a ramp for wheelchair access to Rathdowney cemetery when it is fixing the entrance.

That’s according to Cllr James Kelly, Independent, who made the appeal to the local authority while welcoming the imminent start of work to repair the surface at the cemetery’s entrance.

He said the concrete ramp is crumbling and needs work as soon as possible.

“We definitely need it repaired because wheelchair users use it,” he said.

He raised the issue at the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District meeting.

Cllr John King also welcomed the start of work on the cemetery.
