A Laois councillor has slammed as "shocking" and "very poor" the standard of restoration on a busy Portarlington road.
Sandy Lane in Portarlington, home to many residents as well as a school, had had its road dug up for works, but the repair job is below par, says Cllr Aidan Mullins.
Cllr Mullins has also criticised the "poor road workmanship" on the Portlaoise Road and St Michael's Park as "particualarly bad".
He raised his concerns at the March meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
"Works are being carried out on the reinstatement of Sandy Road. The standard is very poor, it's shocking. I'm not exaggerating, it's a very poor standard. Will you contact the contractor?" Cllr Mullins asked the area engineer, Philip McVeigh.
Mr McVeigh agreed to do so and make the improvements part of the job's snag list.
