Laois GAA walking tracks allocated funding

Funding has been approved under the GAA Walking Tracks Initiative at two Laois clubs.

Minister of State in the Department of Foreign Affairs, Sean Fleming welcomed the announcement by the Department of Health for funding for the two walking tracks.

The funding is provided by Healthy Ireland and is designed to make community walking tracks located on GAA grounds more accessible to more people.

The successful applicants are Borris-In-Ossory  who were allocated €15,000 and Clough Ballacolla, who were also allocated €15,000.

“GAA Clubs have opened their doors to local communities in recent years and they are expanding access to their facilities to help and improve the health and wellbeing of everyone who uses them,” said Minister Fleming.

“This funding is provided under the GAA Walking Tracks Initiative.  The GAA is at the heart of every community it serves and this funding can provide for such items as lighting and improved surfaces for walking tracks,” he added.
